About Neelan Narasimulu
Neelan Narasimulu has over a decade of experience in the payments industry, leading payments for the Sanlam Group. His expertise spans technology, data, and payments, with a broad industry background that includes loyalty and rewards, life and non-life insurance, banking, vehicle and asset finance, credit debt management, internal audit, risk management, fund administration (retail and institutional), human resources, and governance.
Neelan possesses a strong technical background, having held leadership roles as Head of IT at Sanlam Reality, Head of IT for data services at Investec Asset Management, and accumulating over a decade of technical and leadership experience at the Standard Bank Group.
As a passionate advocate for financial inclusivity and a payments innovator, Neelan currently serves as the CEO of Multi Pay, where he is transforming financial transactions. He is also a prominent thought leader in the fintech industry and was the opening speaker at the FinTech Summit Africa 2024.

This guest lecture is part of a series of guest lectures and seminars which has been created to expose UCT MPhil in Fintech students to exceptional individuals in the African Fintech space working on innovative solutions to address the large unbanked population on our continent. Fintech in Africa has received the largest share of funding in recent years, and this trend is expected to increase. As the only dedicated Fintech Master's program on the African continent, one of our goals is to connect our students with leading fintech companies across the continent. In the past, we have had speakers from Nala, Stitch Money, Visa, Spoon Money, Consensys, Authentium, Investec and more. Because seminars have attracted interest from students across campus, any student or individual interested in fintech and related topics are welcome to attend.
