Gemma holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Economics and Law from the University of Cape Town and has recently completed her Masters in Economics also at UCT. Her thesis looked at how interest rates affect the demand for mortgage credit in South Africa. She has a keen interest in understanding consumer price sensitivity and how this affects decision making behaviour.

Gemma joins the Financial Innovation Hub as a Junior Research Fellow, where her research will focus primarily on the digital payments space.
